Domestic Violence currently costs UK business over £2.7 billion a year and affects thousands of working men and women every day.
By proactively addressing the issue, organisations can both reduce the costs to their business, and, most importantly, help prevent domestic violence in society at large.
Mission The Corporate Alliance Against Domestic Violence aims to raise awareness and reduce the human and economic impact of domestic violence through taking action in the workplace.
"The impact of domestic violence goes much wider than the victim, with a cost of approximately £3billion pounds per year for UK employers due to lost economic output. It is shocking that one in four women will be affected by domestic violence in their lifetime and one woman is killed every two to three days. These findings strengthen the case we are making for domestic violence to be on the agenda of every statutory agency and private business, affecting as it does their customers and employees. Domestic violence is completely unacceptable and all of us should take responsibility to challenge and root out abuse among our friends, our colleagues and our communities at large. Business can play an important part in galvanising the efforts to tackle domestic violence, and I applaud the work of the UK Corporate Alliance Against Domestic Violence in addressing this very real and vital issue."
